About Monterey Soap & Candle Works
Monterey Soap & Candle Works is located on historic Cannery Row in Monterey, California. Our soap and candle factory established in September of 2001 follows in the tradition of our four stores in Hawaii. The business was established with the intention of re-creating the ancient art of soap making. We now manufacture a full line of natural body products, beeswax candles and other gift items. Our products are all hand made at our Monterey shop and factory. We hand make both a traditional South Pacific soap using pure coconut oil and a line of specialty soaps, adding coconut oil, olive, palm, macadamia and kukui nut oils combined with herbs and essential oils. All our soaps are made entirely with vegetable oils. Unlike most of the machine made soap on store shelves today, the glycerin which is naturally produced with saponification is left in our soap, making it more beneficial to the skin. History of Our Soap Shoppes and Factory Due to the number of requests by island visitors to come and see our factory, in the fall of 1997 we opened a smaller version of our wholesale soap and candle factory with a charming retail gift shop in Kilauea on the north shore of Kauai. In the fall of 1998 we opened our second location in Koloa on the south shore of Kauai. In the fall of 1999 we opened our third location in Honolulu at the Ward Warehouse. Now visitors can come and see how we make our soap and candles. In the fall of 2000 we opened our fourth store in Wailuku, Maui. Our Monterey Store opened in September of 2001.
